So ive been working at and visiting the great folks @ Red Bull Music Academy alot lately.

Richard the Third, myself and Spoek Mathambo have been spending months in the studio building Spoeks solo project and it has been the most surreal ride!

Weve got some HUGE things planned for the coming months and years in fact, so keep your eyes peeled:)

Fuzzy and i also recorded the first VOICETAG tracks there

and it has been nothing but Blisss..

Between Steve Elsworth, Ivan Turanjanin and Richard Rumney (with help from Red Bull) these guys are running and building something a really nurturing and beautiful platform for musicians to express themselves and get some absolute top quality recordings from masters of their fields.

There will be a Red Bull Mixtape showcase at Assembly on the 26th of this month, with some great acts! check it out here.

Illustrators Warren Ellis and Raulo Caceres make the most intricate art..I love it..I want to share it with you!

Ellis illustrates a number of works mostly for his AVATAR COMICS following, and collaborates with Caceres from time to time too.

Check out some images from Ellis' graphic novel "Crecy"

Caceres rolls a little darker:) He illustrates form beautifully, often with a much more morbid and graphic spin, pretty intense, but such attention to detail. His "Elizebeth Bathory" offering is a dark, skewed journey into the underworld, and he has a pretty warped, sexually explicit mind, as youll see:

All the Sneaker Pimps shows always have the cream-of-the-slop when it comes to customs and sneaker sculpture art, but when Nick showed me these it made me almost woozy.

Metalwork Artist Gabriel Dishaw seems to have something completely unique in his hand...

NIKE SB Video "Debacle" Premier

Adrian gets "photo of the year"

Rolled through to Waiting room last night for the release of the new NIKE SB video called Debacle!

It was dumb cool...there were lots of amazing NIKE SB samples on show aswell..

Word is that a couple stores are gonna get their accounts hooked up soon:)!

Great atmosphere, rad people, free beer and good music!

The Debacle video is one of the first (if not THE) High-Def skateboard movie around and you could really tell the difference.

I was really interested to see what it would be like - having seen the previous Nike SB Video "Nothing But the Truth", which was good...but marred with a really bullshit sideline plot and things.

Debacle was 25 Mins of balls to wall, in your face skating, that was great to see in some a nice atmosphere.

Big Props to Adrian From SB for hooking us up and making it a great night for all...

Went and saw ALEX SMOKE last night at FICTION in Long Street...and i can say it was truly eye opening, euphoric and absolute fun!
So reminiscent - crazy days with great friends seeing top DJ`s in cities around the world...only this time it was in my very own city!!
The dance floor was heaving and alive...you could barely smell the sweat through the excitement!! (both were everywhere)
Smoke was bloody incredible!!
Such a progressive and unique sound...and his demeanor behind the box was pure cool!

Between Fuzzy Slippers and Nolan O. Dennis, no page/wall/fabric/brain is safe.
These two have been producing great work in some (and indeed most) shape, way or form creatively for many many years now.
If youre looking for an ideas factory that is busting out the bra with quirky artistic precision then these are the right guys to get hold of.
Their work is currently being exhibited all over Cape Town and joburg, from the Darkie Stores, to SHELFLIFE STORE, galleries and homes alike.
They have recently released a book of brilliance entitled - DLALANAMAPEN and limited edition t-shirt range to accompany it!

Last year We (shelflife) won a Bronze Lourie Award for our Nike Be True Campaign we did.
The media side of the things was handled by a fantastic company called Mick + Nick in Joburg.
This year they asked Nick Herbert and Myself to Customize a different pair of kicks for each of their staff members!!
15 pairs...Dope fucking bosses!!!
All pairs have individual boxes named for each member, custom colours and love and time and energy!

I customized 16 pairs of shoes this month alone, with a 17th due before month end...i`m really fucking stoked and have been tasting nothing but masking tape, leather and paint for a while.

I couldn`t be happier.

All the people around me are thriving and building, and its beyond inspirational!

Richard phillip`s work stradles the line of pornography, but with realistic and effective artistic intent. Art as a vessel often times exists not only to express the creators feelings and emotion, but more often to instigate certain feelings in the viewer. To push the boundries of what ones brain accepts as art. Richards message (for me) is that Art, and advertising and the expression of human beings through things such as pornography or even human form for that matter are married together. The messages do not have to be misinterpreted just because there is no sense of uniformity. Art is art is advertising is human.
Richard does most of the cover art for the DIRTY VEGAS albums and his work is riddled through the internet...

I think he puts out rad things and have always been enamored with his use of really soft curves and lines to make his subjects possess a great cartoon characteristic whilst still holding their true to human form.

Jades Trades - A Jack of all...

If you know Jade Rabie, you will know that his brain is beautifully ordered chaos. With his photographic moniker - Jaded Rabies, he accomplishes the task that most photographers mostly try to fulfill - produce wonderful pictures full of life and mood.
His compositions are always very well thought out, and he puts a helluva lot of time and effort into every shoot - something that can only breed success.
Jade lives and breathes creativity, and it oozes through his work, which let me tell you is copious, constantly improving and eclectic.
From paint to photo to beats to stickers, Jade is a jack of all trades and has been surreptitiously ingrained in the minds of all in cape town...whether you know it or not:)

Incredibly talented and plugged in photographer Shawn Mortensen past away last night.
Shawn has been actively changing ideas and perceptions of humans and situation through his beautiful photography, lending to skills to brand such as FUCT and always portraying the beauty that is the human race.
Featured in One Small Seed (south african culture magazine) a couple months ago with Xander Ferreira and Spoek Mathambo for their Nike Campaign, every blog ive read for many many years has nothing but great things to say about Shawn Mortensen - his nature and friendliness.
This is a HUGE loss for the culture!

Moleke motherfuckin` Mbembe

To say that Moleke Mbembe is "the new shit" is an understatement.
It`s an insult infact...it groups Moleke Mbembe into this packet of "same same" bullshit that comes out of this town all the time.
Now theres place for "average" or "copycat" in today`s ever-changing/ever-stagnant land-scape...but the truth is...those projects are only around because of groups like Moleke Mbembe and the sound they come with!

Firstly let it be said that these two guys are making what seems to me to be something really natural and sincere, whilst at the same time being impossible to pigeon-hole! (is it rap? is it kwaito? is it house?)
It is what it is...refreshing, pounding, conscious and listener friendly!

Moleke Mbembe is made up of Spoek Mathambo and Richard the Third.

With influences ranging from dubstep to conscious hip-hop to house to kwaito, Both Richard and Spoek`s roles are still clear and powerful.

Richards beats are always incredibly on point and refreshing - bright ideas and gorgeous layers. Heaving with taste and unique style, bordering on obscure at times...bouncing from ass shakingly syncopated to powerful and gritty, Richard the III has oodles of skill and quality!

Spoek seemlessly treads the line of conscious/meaningful lyrics infused with whitty tongue in cheek hooks and amazingly thought out words, he knits it all together so well like ONLY Spoek can!!
Spoek is one of todays most poignient and prolific urban prophets!
Genius raps for days and wonderfully woven, playfully serious deliverance and subject matter.

Things havent even begun to get where they`re going to get to for these cats...
